The Marrakesh finish gives this Excellence A2 a warm brown lacquer body with subtle red and copper undertones. Gold-tone trim runs throughout, pairing with the earthy body color to produce a cohesive, traditional look. The body is metal, and the clip is full-metal with a spring load that resists deformation.
This is a ballpoint pen. Rotating the barrel extends and retracts the writing tip. It takes a Parker-style G2 ballpoint refill, and Yafa Brands stocks compatible refills. Diplomat has produced writing instruments in Germany since 1922, and this pen is made in Germany at Diplomat's production site in Cunewalde, Saxony. A five-year manufacturer warranty covers the pen.
