The Schmidt 888 Medium is a Safety Ceramic rollerball refill with a plastic tube, a stainless steel tip and a 0.7 mm ceramic ball. It is the standard international capped rollerball size, 110.6 mm long and 6.3 mm in diameter. Each pack holds two refills, and Yafa stocks the Medium in black and blue.

What is the difference between the Schmidt 888 and 5888?
The tube. The 888 has a plastic tube and the 5888 a metal tube. Schmidt lists the same length, diameter and ball sizes for both, so they fit the same pens.
What does 0.7 mm mean on the 888 Medium?
It is the diameter of the ceramic ball. Schmidt publishes ball sizes of 0.6 mm for Fine, 0.7 mm for Medium and 1.0 mm for Broad, and does not publish a line width.
Is the Schmidt 888 suited to a pen whose cap does not seal well?
Schmidt says its Safety refills are particularly suited to pens without a perfect cap seal. The pen still has to take a 110.6 mm refill.
Does the Schmidt 888 fit Parker rollerballs?
No. Parker Sonnet, IM, Urban, Premier and Duofold rollerballs take Parker's own Quink rollerball refill, which is a different size.
