The Flame is a stainless steel pen, heat-treated so that irregular bands of blue, violet, bronze, and gold develop across the body. Because the color comes from fire, each pen has its own distribution of tones, and no two are identical. The Aero's tapered, Zeppelin-inspired profile runs lengthwise grooves along the body, and those channels shift in appearance as the flamed colors move across them.
This is a ballpoint. Rotating the barrel extends and retracts the writing tip. It takes a Parker-style G2 ballpoint refill.

The Diplomat Aero Flame has a stainless steel body, and the flame finish is applied using real fire. Because fire produces unpredictable results, each pen comes out differently. Diplomat states that no two are identical. If you order more than one, the surface pattern on each will differ.
