The Thalassa pen pairs blue Italian resin with palladium trim. Layered blue tones give Thalassa the movement and depth of open water. The finish makes the pen expressive without losing the polished restraint expected from an Italian writing instrument.

The fountain pen is the most expressive N-E 2.0 writing option. Its nib lets the ink show natural shading and character, while the cartridge and converter system gives the writer a choice between standard international ink cartridges and bottled fountain pen ink using the included converter.

What is the Thalassa pen made from, and where is it made?

The Thalassa pen is made in Italy from Italian resin turned from solid bar, and it carries palladium trim. Today's Nettuno pens are manufactured in Naples by Maiora Pen Company. Nettuno's documented history traces to Bologna in 1911, when founder Umberto Vecchietti used the city's Neptune fountain as the symbol for the brand. The N-E stands for Nineteen Eleven, and the 2.0 denotes the second iteration, released in 2024. Layered blue tones give Thalassa the movement and depth of open water. The finish makes the pen expressive without losing the polished restraint expected from an Italian writing instrument.

What nib sizes does the Thalassa fountain pen come in?

The Thalassa fountain pen is available in eight nib sizes: Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, Stub 1.1, Stub 1.5, Flex Extra Fine and Flex Fine. All eight are on a JoWo #6 nib engraved for the pen. You select the size when you add the pen to your cart. If your writing style sits between nib families — say, somewhere between a Fine and a Stub — the eight options give you enough range to find a genuine match rather than a compromise.

How does the Thalassa fountain pen fill with ink, and what comes in the box?

The Thalassa fountain pen uses a cartridge and converter filling system. A converter is included in the box, so you can fill from bottled fountain pen ink straight away. When you prefer cartridges, the pen takes standard international ink cartridges, available from most pen and stationery suppliers. The two methods are independent: use the converter with bottled ink, or pull it out and slot in a standard international ink cartridge instead. No additional hardware is needed to start writing with either approach.

How does the cap work, and can I post it while writing?

The Thalassa cap is threaded and takes one and a half rotations to open or close. That means it will not come loose in a bag or pocket, but it also will not slow you down once you have the rhythm. The cap is postable, so you can push it onto the back of the barrel while writing if you prefer that balance. The cap finial carries an engraving of the brand name, model name and serial number.

When the refill runs low, what do I replace it with, and where can I get it?

When the refill runs low, the Thalassa takes standard international ink cartridges or, with the included converter in place, bottled fountain pen ink. For cartridges, the standard is standard international ink cartridge format. Yafa Brands is the official US distributor of Nettuno and is the right first stop for accessories. The pen does not use a ballpoint or rollerball refill, so if you are browsing Yafa's refill listings, look specifically for the standard international ink cartridge format to make sure you are ordering the correct part.
