The Black Forest Aero has an anodized aluminum body with deep lengthwise grooves running across the barrel and cap. Its dark green body pairs with black accents in a low-contrast palette, and the grooves catch the green most clearly along their raised edges and under direct light.
The Aero takes standard international ink cartridges, and a Diplomat plunger converter is available for use with bottled ink. The stainless steel nib is available in extra fine, fine, medium and broad.

What nib widths does the Black Forest come in?
The Diplomat Aero Black Forest fountain pen is available with a stainless steel nib in extra fine, fine, medium and broad. Choose the width when you add the pen to your order. If you are moving from one width to another, the nib unit on the pen you receive is specific to the width you select, so pick carefully before ordering.
What comes in the box?
The Black Forest arrives in a case for three writing instruments. Inside you will find a converter and two standard international ink cartridges, along with a warranty card. The converter lets you fill from a bottle straight away; the two standard international ink cartridges give you an alternative if you prefer cartridge use.
How does the cap work on this pen?
The cap on the Diplomat Aero Black Forest closes with a soft sliding click. Press it onto the barrel and it seats securely. To open, pull it straight off. Diplomat describes this as an exclusive closing system for the Aero line.
What ink can I use when the refill runs low?
The Diplomat Aero Black Forest takes standard international ink cartridges. The converter supplied in the box lets you draw from bottled ink instead. Yafa stocks Diplomat bottled ink in 30 ml bottles, which is a compatible option for use with the converter.
