The Diplomat Aero Black has an anodized aluminum body with deep lengthwise grooves running the length of the barrel and cap. The uniform dark finish draws attention to the silhouette and surface texture rather than color, with subtle shifts in reflection defining each groove and edge.
This is a fountain pen that takes standard international ink cartridges and accepts a Diplomat plunger converter for use with bottled ink. The stainless steel nib is available in extra fine, fine, medium, and broad.

The finished pen is made in Germany at Diplomat's production site in Cunewalde, Saxony. Diplomat has produced writing instruments in Germany since 1922, and the Cunewalde facility has been the production site since 2001.
